Further to the
history of the Melocco Family as written by my Father, Peter Oliver Melocco,
dated August 1948,
I, John Peter Melocco take up the narrative.
Giovanni
Battista Melocco (my Grandfather), son of Pietro, was born in Toppo a small
town in Italy approximately 100 kilometres north of Venice, on 24th June,
1857. At the time this part of Italy (Friuli) was a protectorate of Austria.
He had five brothers — Antonio, Valentino, Costante, Angelo and Vincenzo.

Giovanni Battista married Teresa Fabris from Vito d’Asio, a picturesque town
some 10 Kilometres north east of Toppo. From this marriage 5 children were
born.
