The post-war years
were ones of enormous growth for Melocco Brothers. The finer trades — marble,
scagliola and mosaic — did not pick up until the early Fifties’ city office
building boom. However, Australia’s industrial growth at the end of World War
II required many new factories with concrete floors, and these, along with roadwork
and pre-cast and in-situ terrazzo for hospitals and retail stores, became Melocco
Brothers’ primary sources of revenue until the late Fifties .
