1907
Peter and a group of friends attended a lantern slide show at their
club, the eccentrically named Independent Order of Oddfellows. A visiting
Australian architect showed slides of Sydney, including some of the
recently completed Anthony Horderns building on Brickfield Hill. Peter
saw, in Australia, both a working environment of enormous potential
and an appealing home. Disillusioned by what he saw as corrupt American
business practise in the building trade, he quickly began planning his
move. |
