Virtual Tours Help Page
You have come to this page because your browser cannot see the
Virtual Tour.
This is usually due to one of the following reasons:
1) Your Browser is not Java enabled
2) It does not have a Java Virtual Machine (Java VM) Plug-in installed or
3) The Java VM has become corrupt.
4) or you may have a very old Browser Vs 3 or less (older than the Java VM)
in this case update
you Browser
The Virtual Tour requires that your browser have a working Java VM installed & enabled.
What is the a Java Virtual Machine?:
The Java Virtual Machine is a plug in to your browser. It adds functionality
to the original browser program.
Until the release of Windows XP, all modern browses came with a version of the
Java Virtual Machine. When Microsoft first launched Windows XP they made the
Java VM an optional plug in, so some have it & some do not.
The Java VM can also be disabled in the browser preferences so first check
that it is there & enabled (turned on).
Like all programs the Java VM can also become corrupt & require reinstalling.
For Windows Users:
Check that your Java VM is there & enabled:
For Internet Explorer, there are two varieties of Java Virtual Machine, Microsoft
VM & the original Java(Sun) version.
It doesn't matter which one you have, although don't install the Sun version
1.4 (it causes big problems), The Sun version 1.3 or below is fine.
To check if your Java settings are installed & enabled:
Internet Explorer: select either or both of the following:
-For the Microsoft VM in IE: Tools<Internet Options<Advanced<Microsoft
VM ensure all Java& JIT boxes are ticked (may require restart)
NB if you can't see the tab "Microsoft VM" then you don't have the
Microsoft VM Plugin or it has become corrupt & you need to reinstall it
from the Microsoft Web site. I generally find if you go to the windows
update page it automatically detects your problems & installs the necessary
components for you. (This can be a long download if you haven't updated for
a while) or you can download the MS Java VM directly here
-For the Sun Virtual Machine Tools<Internet Options<Advanced<Java(Sun)
ensure the box is ticked
N.B. the Java(Sun) tab isn't there the you can install it from www.java.sun.com/getjava/download.html
Netscape:
Edit<Preferences<Advanced -ensure "Enable Java" & "Enable
Java Script" (NS4.7) are ticked
For Mac OS9 Users:
Get the Mac version of javaVM "MRJ_2.2.5_Install.bin" here
OK, so you enabled java, now reload the Virtual Tour
